We did it! I wanted to thank you and everyone for their support and hard work throughout this campaign. Without your all-hands-on-deck enthusiasm we wouldn’t have stood a chance in standing up to the more than $1.3 million spent against us. Every phone call and door knock made a real difference. I am also grateful for the financial support my campaign received from so many people.
It was a bittersweet victory with heavy Democratic losses across the country. Every seat surrounding our district in New York and Pennsylvania went from blue to red and, as a result, the Congress will lose many very talented lawmakers and staff. In January, I will join the 112th Congress with the increased responsibility to help carry forward the belief we share with those who lost their elections – that the enterprise of government can make a difference in the lives of ordinary Americans.
On the campaign trail in Binghamton, President Bill Clinton summed it up nicely: “There is nothing wrong with this country that can’t be fixed by what’s right with it.” Your contributions of time and support to this campaign made all the difference and will not be forgotten. I deeply appreciate and look forward to our continued friendship.
Best wishes and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones. We have much to be grateful for.
Sincerely,
