Kingston, NY—On Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 4:00pm, music pioneer and legend Genya Ravan and David Malachowski & The Woodstock Allstars will perform an Ulster County kick-off benefit event in support of Congressman Maurice Hinchey’s 2012 reelection campaign at the Bearsville Theatre in Woodstock, New York.         

Genya Ravan formed Goldie and the Gingerbreads in the early sixties, touring behind a string of European hits with the Rolling Stones, Kinks, Yardbirds and Hollies as the first all-female rock and roll band.  Later she resurfaced back in the US as the powerful voice of Ten Wheel Drive, one of the original horn jazz-fusion bands.  In the seventies, she expanded her repertoire becoming the world’s first independent female producer, with critically acclaimed records by Ronnie Spector and the Dead Boys.  During the same period, Hilly Krystal summoned Ravan to head up CBGB Records.  In 2010, Ravan returned to recording, releasing a new self-produced collection of some of her favorite songs, appropriately titled Undercover.  She also hosts two monthly radio shows for Little Steven’s Underground Garage on Sirius/XM: “Chicks and Broads” in which she covers the often forgotten music of female artists from the 40’s to the present, as well as “Goldie’s Garage” in which she continues her long career of showcasing new and unsigned bands.  Currently, Ravan and her band Goldie and the Gingerbreads are included in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s groundbreaking exhibit Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, and Power, which illustrates the important roles women have played in rock and roll, from its inception through today.

David Malachowski & the Woodstock Allstars are a revolving group of high profile musicians whose improvisational twists and turns never cease to amaze and inspire. The blues based material is played with a jazz approach as well as rock power and stance.  Guitarist Malachowski is known for his work in many genres, Janie Fricke, Shania Twain, Savoy Brown, Commander Cody, Garth Hudson, and is currently touring with Adam Pascal & Anthony Rapp (RENT). The group configuration changes with their touring schedules, for the June 26^th show at Bearsville Theatre, the band will feature Pete Levin (Paul Simon, Annie Lennox, Tony Levin Band) Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel, Paul McCartney, Tony Levin Band) and Mike Visceglia (Suzanne Vega).
